Keesha Answer-Williams

Welcome everyone!

My name is Keesha Answer-Williams.

I am a Christian, wife, mother, nurse, Jamaican immigrant, and servant of our Lord and Savior.

I was led by the Holy Spirit to intercede for young men ages 25 and younger as "most experts suggest that the brain is fully developed by  then."

I believe that our youths need to be given second chances, and shown grace and hope, not condemnation.

I have always been passionate about equity for our young men; however, the Spirit made me realize that I had to stop watching, and praying from the sidelines while these young men have their rights stripped away.

Why I Started

Justice for Melanin Boys was placed in my spirit in 2019. My then 17-year-old son, and one of his friends, who were both high school football players of African descent, were profiled by law enforcement officers while fundraising for their school. I tried to conduct my own investigation to verify the precinct that the officers belonged to. I then contacted the superintendent of schools, and our mayor, who contacted the chief of police for our city, who was able to determine the precinct that the officers were assigned to. I was ridiculed by some people who were annoyed that I was continuing my pursuit of justice "although" the boys were not handcuffed or arrested; however, my belief was that they were not afforded the same rights as their caucasian peers. It was borne out that the officers had abandoned an assignment in the neighboring city where they were stationed because the wife of one of them, who was also a detective with that same city, contacted him, and informed him that she was afraid. There was a delay in justice being served, so I eventually contacted the media. Consequences were only meted out on the same day that the article was printed. It was such an exhaustive journey; however, it propelled me into my God-ordained purpose, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28).
